While photo-walking the streets of the Walled City (Old Delhi), I came across several heards sporting turbans. Its a lost hertiage of India. Considered a symbol of pride, a turban still holds quite a lot of significance. Be it Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat or Maratha , a Pagdi can be spotted in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
I particularly like the way this gentleman has casually wrapped up a checkered cloth to make up a turban, ideal to beat the scorching Delhi sun. I understand that fashion would be last thing on this man's mind but sometimes traditions make a style statement too!
This is neat , i have been trying to learn the art of wearing the turban for a while now , bu ends up looking like a half wrapped towel
ReplyDeleteLovely shots :)
